DOVE PARK

DEVELOPMENT

The creation of the Dove Park was the dream of the late Mrs. Leona Kully, longtime teacher and resident of Myrnam.  The word "Myrnam" translated from Ukrainian means "Peace to Us" and we have adopted the Dove as our symbol.

We are a small community with a vision.  The first phase of this vision was to erect a Dove statue at the site of the Myrnam Hotel - a landmark that was destroyed by fire in 1998.  The statue was erected in 2005.

Our village received a CIP grant in September 2003 for $12,000.  That amount has grown to over $55,000.  Many people have expressed a desire to help preserve our heritage and assist in promoting our future.  Our mission is to implement a plan for beautifying our entire village and highlighting significant historical milestones such as being in the forefront of universal Medicare.  The total projected cost of this project is $75,000.

The Friends of the Dove is a vibrant group of community members who have scheduled a series of fundraisers to achieve our goal. We are counting on donations to help us.  All donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.  The recognition of donors is as follows:

                                                    Bronze Plaque                        $25 - $99

                                                    Silver Plaque                           $100 - $499

                                                    Gold Plaque                            $500 - $999

                                                    Diamond Plaque                      $1000 plus

*All donors will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Our research committee has compiled a list of former residents, however we need your help to complete this list.  If you know of anyone who was a former resident who had not yet been contacted or know of anyone who may be interested in donating to this project please contact the Village Office or send your donations directly to the Village of Myrnam.  We will make every effort to contact donors when the Dove Park is officially opened.  Thank You for you support and contributions.

The Myrnam Dove Park features a special section, a memorial monument.  The purpose of this special garden will be to honor founding families and community members no longer with us.  The names of these founding families and community members will be acknowledged on plaques.  The cost per plaque will be $100.00.  Monies from the purchase of a plaque will be used for the development of the commemorative monument.  The plaques will be displayed on the monument.

If you wish to have the name(s) of any of your family members or friends on the monument, please include with the appropriate sum of money, the name(s) you wish to appear on the plaque, clearly printed to the Village Office.

Thank You for continuing to support our vision of a new and improved Myrnam.
